What is a Chatelaine
A chatelaine was a decorative, functional waist-worn clasp or belt hook used primarily by women in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Suspended by a series of chains, it functioned as the historical equivalent of a "hands-free purse". It carried everyday essential tools such as keys, sewing kits, scissors, thimbles, notebooks, and writing instruments.
